Kidnapper gangs back with a bang in Nitish’s Bihar.
This image possibly from AFP (ibnlive doesn’t recognize that) appears on todays news item about the spurt in Kidnappings in Bihar. The caption below the news item reads,
MISSING LINK: Bihar has seen a huge spurt in kidnappings in the past three months.
But this image is a file image shot during the student protests against kidnappings while Laloo Yadav was in power. While using the image per se is not unethical, shouldn’t IBNLive mention that this is a file photo? Or do they want to catch the attention of the reader by making him think that students are protesting against the ‘recent spurt in kidnappings’ under Nitish rule?
Here in this BBC report from January 2005, the same image had been used. That news item indicates that the image is from AFP and is clearly about the Children protesting against Kidnappings.
